With reference to the attached Memo, I have the
honour to further report that at 1.15 p.m. on the 10th. April, I
saw lir. Lo, (Attorney General's Clerk) enter the Police Canteen,
he was very talkative and appeared to have been drinking. He
said that he had been up to see the C.D.I. (Mr. Hanson) and on
entering the Canteen he called for a "long Shandy beer" and said
"put in Mr. Hanson's book". He subsequently drank part of the
beer. He commenced to make "free" with some of the officers, and
I could see that although he was not incapable, he had had
enough, and I withdrew. He afterwards lost his umbrella and reported it lost or stolen, Sergeant Grant went to the Canteen and found it there. During the afternoon, lir. Lo called up from
the Attorney-General's Office several times asking for a
Chinese Detective to be sent down to see him, I sent P.C. Stew-
-art down as I knew his condition, and later P.C. Stewart
returned and reported that "Mr. Lo" had told him that it was most important, about "Enigration and squeeze" that he could not tell him, but, must have a Chinese Detective, and said that if a
Chinese Detective could not be sent, he would come up and see
the C.D.I. personally. He didn't come up, and as far as I am aware nothing further was heard from him about it. I attach report from Sergeant Grant and P.C. Stewart.
The Hon. C.S .P.
I have etc.,
(Sa.) A. Collett,
C.D.I.
